Underwood’s Off-Field Touchdown & the Wolverines’ On-Field Pursuit!….

While Michigan’s Wolverines chase gridiron glory on the field, one of their own is scoring just as impressively off of it. Senior linebacker Marcus Underwood has turned heads—not just for his clutch tackles, but for launching a non-profit that mentors underprivileged youth in Detroit. His organization, “Next Play,” provides tutoring, life skills training, and athletic programs, giving kids a chance to win in life, not just in sport.

Underwood’s efforts have earned national recognition, and he recently received the NCAA’s Award of Inspiration. “Football gave me discipline and opportunity,” Underwood says. “I want to pass that on.” Meanwhile, the Wolverines remain laser-focused on the postseason. With a 9-1 record, they’re eyeing the Big Ten title and a potential College Football Playoff berth.

Coach Jim Harbaugh praised Underwood’s dual impact: “He’s a leader in every sense. What he does in the community mirrors the heart he shows on the field.” As the Wolverines push toward a championship, Underwood’s off-field vision reminds fans that greatness isn’t just measured in touchdowns, but in the lives you uplift along the way. It’s a winning season for Michigan—on every front.
