Breaking News: Kinzie Hansen, Rylie Boone, and Jordy Bahl Return to Oklahoma Sooners Softball…

In a significant development for the Oklahoma Sooners softball team, catcher Kinzie Hansen and outfielders Rylie Boone and Jordy Bahl have returned for the 2024 season, utilizing the extra year of eligibility granted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hansen, a senior from Norco, California, was named the 2024 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the Women’s College World Series team. She achieved a .990 fielding percentage and a .400 batting average, hitting 11 home runs and recording 41 RBIs. In 2023, Hansen received first-team All-American honors and won the Johnny Bench Award, recognizing the nation’s top catcher.

Boone, a fifth-year senior from Owasso, Oklahoma, posted a .410 batting average in 2024, with 12 doubles and 24 RBIs, scoring 42 runs. She was instrumental in the Sooners’ success, contributing significantly to their offensive efforts.

Bahl, a sophomore pitcher from Papillion, Nebraska, transferred to Oklahoma in 2022. She was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2023 Women’s College World Series, pitching 24.2 scoreless innings. In her two seasons with the Sooners, Bahl accumulated a 44-2 record, a 1.00 ERA, and 397 strikeouts over 274 innings. She announced her decision to transfer to Nebraska in June 2023 but suffered a season-ending ACL injury in February 2024. Bahl redshirted the 2024 season and is expected to return to play in 2025.

The return of Hansen, Boone, and Bahl bolsters the Sooners’ lineup as they aim for continued success in the upcoming season.
