As of April 4, 2025, there have been no reports of the No. 1 men’s volleyball recruit in America committing to Penn State over Ohio State and BYU. However, Penn State’s men’s volleyball team has recently bolstered its roster with the signing of international talent Matija Grbić. Announced on February 20, 2025, Grbić, a 6-foot-4 outside hitter from Serbia, is the son of Nikola Grbić, the head coach of Poland’s National Team. He currently plays club volleyball in Italy and is set to join the Nittany Lions for the 2026 season.

In women’s volleyball, Penn State made significant strides in 2024 by signing two top-five recruits: Izzy Starck and Ava Falduto. Starck, the No. 1 overall recruit from Colorado Springs, is a 6-foot-1 setter and a first-team Under Armour All-American. She has been a member of the USA Volleyball U19 National team and brings a strong volleyball pedigree, with both parents and her sister having played Division I volleyball. Falduto, ranked No. 5 nationally, hails from Illinois and has earned first-team All-State honors. She has also represented the USA Volleyball U19 team, winning the best receiver award at the U19 Pan American Cup.

Additionally, on December 16, 2024, Emmi Sellman, a 6-foot-4 outside hitter, transferred from Ohio State to Penn State. During her freshman year at Ohio State, Sellman averaged 2.87 kills per set and was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team.

These strategic additions reflect Penn State’s commitment to strengthening its volleyball programs and maintaining a competitive edge in collegiate volleyball.
