Alabama’s standout freshman wide receiver, Ryan Williams, has been named a finalist for the prestigious Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award, underscoring his remarkable debut season with the Crimson Tide. The award, presented annually by the Maxwell Football Club, honors the nation’s most outstanding freshman in college football.

Williams has delivered an exceptional performance this season, leading Alabama with 45 receptions for 857 yards and eight touchdowns. His impressive average of 19.0 yards per catch ranks among the best in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Beyond his receiving prowess, Williams has contributed on the ground with 48 rushing yards and two touchdowns, and has been active in special teams with 10 punt returns for 82 yards.
The Shaun Alexander Award has previously recognized two Alabama players: linebacker Will Anderson Jr. in 2020 and safety Caleb Downs in 2023. Williams aims to follow in their footsteps as he vies for this esteemed honor.
The winner of the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award will be announced on December 26, 2024, with the presentation ceremony scheduled for March 14, 2025, at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.
Williams’ nomination highlights his significant impact on Alabama’s offense and cements his status as one of college football’s rising stars.
