Just Now: Dockers key player suspended for 15 games due to……..

Fremantle Dockers forward Michael Frederick has been suspended by the club for one match due to a breach of team protocols. Following the Dockers’ victory over Brisbane, Frederick consumed alcohol during a six-day break before the upcoming match against Hawthorn, an action deemed inconsistent with the team’s standards. The leadership group imposed the suspension, making Frederick ineligible for both AFL and WAFL games. Executive General Manager of Football, Peter Bell, expressed that while Frederick is remorseful, the club is confident he will learn from this experience and continue to contribute positively in the future. citeturn0search0

This incident adds to a series of disciplinary actions involving Fremantle players. In 2015, midfielder Harley Bennell was fined $15,000 and banned from training with the team for two months after an incident at a nightclub. More recently, in 2024, two-time Brownlow medallist Nat Fyfe received a one-match suspension for striking during a heated Western Derby against West Coast. citeturn0search2turn0search1

These events highlight the club’s commitment to maintaining high standards and accountability among its players. While individual actions have led to suspensions, the Dockers’ leadership continues to support players in their personal development, aiming to uphold the team’s integrity and performance on the field.
