Michigan State Spartans’ head coach, Tom Izzo, has recently achieved several significant milestones, reinforcing his legendary status in college basketball. In his 30th season, Izzo led the Spartans to clinch the Big Ten regular-season championship, marking their first outright title since 2018. This accomplishment secured Izzo’s 11th conference title, tying him with coaching greats Bob Knight and Ward Lambert for the most in Big Ten history.

In February 2025, Izzo surpassed Bob Knight’s record for the most Big Ten conference wins, achieving his 354th victory. Under his guidance, Michigan State secured its 27th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, the nation’s longest active streak.

 

During the NCAA Tournament, the Spartans showcased resilience, advancing to the Elite Eight after a hard-fought 73-70 victory over Ole Miss in the Sweet 16. This win highlighted the team’s determination and caught the attention of fans and NBA legend Magic Johnson.
