Rescue teams have concluded the search for a 51-year-old man who fell overboard from Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Epic on December 26, 2024. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. local time as the ship was sailing from Ocho Rios, Jamaica, to Nassau, Bahamas.
Upon realizing the passenger was missing, the crew initiated immediate search and rescue operations, deploying a flare and life ring to mark the location. Passengers were also asked to assist by observing from decks and balconies. Despite these efforts and the involvement of nearby vessels, including Holland America Line’s Zuiderdam, the search was unsuccessful.
A Norwegian Cruise Line spokesperson stated, “After an extensive search that was unfortunately unsuccessful, the ship was released by the authorities to continue its voyage.” The passenger was traveling with a large group, and his family onboard is receiving support during this difficult time.
