Penn State’s wrestling team showcased exceptional prowess at the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships, with six Nittany Lions clinching medals and propelling the team to its fourth consecutive national title. The championship, held at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, saw Penn State dominate with a record-breaking 177 points, surpassing their previous record of 172.5 points set last year.

Leading the charge was Carter Starocci, who made history by becoming the first-ever five-time NCAA wrestling champion. Starocci achieved this unprecedented feat by winning the 184-pound title, having previously secured four titles at 174 pounds.
In addition to Starocci’s triumph, Mitchell Mesenbrink captured his first national championship at 165 pounds. Other notable performances included freshman Luke Lilledahl advancing to the quarterfinals at 125 pounds, and sophomore Braeden Davis securing a hard-fought victory at 133 pounds.
