Nittany Lions’ Next Generation: Penn State’s Recruiting Class Ranked 1 in Nation”*…..
Penn State’s football program has achieved a significant milestone by securing the nation’s top-ranked recruiting class for the 2026 cycle. This accomplishment was solidified with the recent commitment of three-star wide receiver Lavar Keys from DeMatha Catholic High School in Maryland. Keys’ addition brings the Nittany Lions’ 2026 class to six commitments, propelling them ahead of Auburn to claim the No. 1 spot nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

The 2026 recruiting class is shaping up impressively, featuring four players ranked in the ESPN300: offensive lineman Kevin Brown (No. 68), running back Messiah Mickens (No. 120), quarterback Troy Huhn (No. 169), and edge rusher/outside linebacker Daniel Jennings (No. 264). This diverse and talented group underscores Penn State’s commitment to building a robust foundation for future success on the field.
In addition to the 2026 class, Penn State’s 2025 recruiting efforts have also garnered attention. The Nittany Lions secured commitments from standout players such as tight end Andrew Olesh and offensive lineman Malachi Goodman, both of whom have earned five-star rankings from national recruiting services. Olesh, a Southern Lehigh High School graduate from Center Valley, Pennsylvania, flipped his commitment from Michigan to Penn State in December 2024. Goodman, hailing from Paramus Catholic in New Jersey, chose Penn State over several top-tier programs, including Georgia and Alabama.
These recruiting successes reflect head coach James Franklin’s strategic focus on attracting top talent to Happy Valley. By securing commitments from highly regarded prospects across multiple recruiting cycles, Penn State is positioning itself as a formidable contender in college football’s competitive landscape.
