Carter Starocci, a four-time NCAA wrestling champion from Penn State, has demonstrated unwavering loyalty to his team amid the evolving landscape of collegiate athletics influenced by Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities. While reports have surfaced about athletes like South Carolina’s quarterback LaNorris Sellers rejecting substantial NIL offers to remain with their current programs , Starocci’s commitment to Penn State remains steadfast.

In May 2024, Starocci solidified his dedication by signing with Happy Valley United, Penn State’s NIL collective, to explore endorsement opportunities while continuing his pursuit of a historic fifth NCAA title . Addressing speculation about his NIL earnings, Starocci emphasized the private nature of his financial arrangements, stating, “Don’t speak about my pockets. Y’all don’t know the half of it” .

Starocci’s focus remains on his athletic and personal growth within the Penn State community, balancing the benefits of NIL engagements with his commitment to the Nittany Lions.
