News Now : Maple leafs blockbuster trades have just been announced………

The Toronto Maple Leafs have made waves in the hockey world with a series of blockbuster trades aimed at strengthening their roster. First, they acquired veteran forward Scott Laughton from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for forward Nikita Grebenkin and a first-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft. The Flyers are retaining 50% of Laughton’s salary, making the trade financially manageable for the Leafs. Laughton’s experience and grit are seen as key assets for Toronto’s forward lines as they aim for a deep playoff run.

In another significant move, the Leafs traded defenseman Timothy Liljegren to the San Jose Sharks for defenseman Matt Benning, along with a third-round pick in 2025 and a sixth-round pick in 2026. Benning’s solid defensive play and leadership will add depth to Toronto’s blue line, which has been a focus area for the team this season.

These trades have been met with widespread praise, with former NHL player Paul Bissonnette grading the Leafs’ deadline moves as an “A.” Experts believe that the additions of Laughton and Benning significantly improve the team’s chances of success in the playoffs. With these strategic moves, the Maple Leafs are poised to be one of the most competitive teams in the Eastern Conference.
