In a strategic move to bolster their roster, the Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired veteran forward Scott Laughton from the Philadelphia Flyers. This trade, finalized on March 7, 2025, involved the Leafs sending forward Nikita Grebenkin and a first-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft to the Flyers, while also receiving a fourth-round pick in 2025 and a sixth-round pick in 2027. The Flyers will retain 50% of Laughton’s remaining contract.

Laughton, 30, has spent his entire 12-season NHL career with Philadelphia, amassing 265 points (106 goals, 159 assists) in 661 games. This season, he has recorded 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists) in 60 games. Known for his versatility and two-way play, Laughton is expected to make a significant impact on the Maple Leafs’ forward lines. His experience and leadership qualities will be valuable assets as Toronto aims for a deep playoff run.

This acquisition reflects the Maple Leafs’ commitment to strengthening their lineup and addressing key areas to enhance their competitiveness in the league.
