The Toronto Maple Leafs have bolstered their roster by signing veteran forward Max Pacioretty to a one-year contract worth $873,770. Pacioretty, 35, joined the Leafs on a professional tryout during training camp and impressed the coaching staff, securing his spot for the 2024-25 season.

Last season, Pacioretty recorded 23 points (four goals, 19 assists) in 47 games with the Washington Capitals. Over his 16-season NHL career, he has amassed 668 points (330 goals, 338 assists) in 902 regular-season games, with additional playoff experience tallying 50 points in 78 games.

Pacioretty expressed enthusiasm about joining Toronto, stating, “At this stage of my career, the most important thing is winning, and I feel like this group has a chance to win.”

In addition to Pacioretty, the Maple Leafs signed forward Steven Lorentz to a one-year, $775,000 contract. Lorentz, 28, contributed to the Florida Panthers’ Stanley Cup victory last season, recording three points in 16 playoff games.

These signings reflect Toronto’s commitment to enhancing their lineup with experienced players as they aim for a strong performance in the upcoming season.
