Penn State Football Brings a Bit of THON to the Lasch Football Building….
Penn State’s football team recently hosted its annual THON Explorers event at the Lasch Football Building, welcoming children and families affected by pediatric cancer. This initiative, part of the broader THON dance marathon, offers these families a respite from their challenges and an opportunity to engage with Nittany Lions players.

During the event, players and attendees participated in various activities, including ping pong, basketball pop-a-shot, and golf simulations. Freshman linebacker LaVar Arrington II was notably active, engaging in ping pong matches, while other players entertained the children with karaoke performances. The day was filled with laughter and bonding, as players guided families through the team’s facilities and joined in the festivities.
The THON Explorers Program is a cherished tradition, allowing the football team to contribute to the community beyond their athletic commitments. Head Coach James Franklin emphasized the importance of such engagements, stating that Penn State football is about more than just game days; it’s about giving back and making a difference in people’s lives.
This event underscores the team’s dedication to supporting children battling cancer, reinforcing the profound impact of community involvement and the spirit of THON.
