On February 19, 2025, the Penn State Nittany Lions ended a seven-game losing streak with an 89-72 victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Coach Mike Rhoades attributed this success to the team playing with increased “freedom” and “spirit,” alleviating the pressure that had been affecting their performance.

The Nittany Lions showcased a potent offense, scoring a season-high 89 points in a Big Ten game and shooting 60.7% from the field—their first time surpassing 60% in conference play since 2007. Six players scored in double figures, with Yanic Konan Niederhauser and Zach Hicks each contributing 19 points. Defensively, Penn State’s press forced 11 first-half turnovers, setting the game’s tone.

Coach Rhoades emphasized the importance of overcoming adversity and praised the team’s approach, highlighting their aggressive play and improved ball movement. He noted that playing with a clearer mind allowed for better teamwork and reduced individual pressure.

Notable individual performances included Ace Baldwin Jr. recording his 800th career assist and making six steals for the second consecutive game, and D’Marco Dunn scoring 17 points on 7-for-9 shooting.
