At the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships in Philadelphia, President Donald Trump’s attendance garnered positive reactions from prominent wrestlers, particularly from Penn State. Carter Starocci, who clinched his unprecedented fifth national title at 184 pounds, expressed enthusiasm about Trump’s presence, stating, “He came to nationals I believe my sophomore year and it was really cool. He’s obviously a big fan of combat sports… it’s good for our sport.”

Similarly, Minnesota’s Gable Steveson, a heavyweight contender, welcomed the President’s support, noting, “Regardless of who the President is, I think it’s a great fact that he comes to support wrestling… he’s coming to watch some of the best wrestling on earth, and we’re going to give that to him.”
Trump’s arrival at the Wells Fargo Arena was met with enthusiastic cheers. The crowd stood and applauded, chanting “U-S-A” as he entered. ESPN interrupted an interview with Starocci to capture the President’s entrance. Later, Trump interacted with Starocci, shaking hands and posing for photos.
