I couldn’t find any recent reports from ESPN or Netflix regarding the Kentucky Wildcats University Marching Band, known as “The Showband of the Southwest,” being selected to perform at a Super Bowl halftime show. It’s important to note that “The Showband of the Southwest” is traditionally associated with the University of Texas at Arlington, not the University of Kentucky.

Historically, college marching bands have played significant roles in Super Bowl halftime shows. For instance, the inaugural Super Bowl in 1967 featured performances by the University of Arizona and Grambling State University marching bands. Over the years, the halftime show has evolved from featuring primarily marching bands to showcasing major musical artists. Notably, Beyoncé delivered a memorable performance during Netflix’s live streaming of two NFL games on December 25, 2024, dubbed the “Beyoncé Bowl” halftime show.

While there have been instances of college bands participating in Super Bowl events, such as the Bethune-Cookman University Marching Wildcats performing during the pre-game show of Super Bowl XLIII in 2009, there is no current information confirming that the Kentucky Wildcats University Marching Band has been selected for an upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance.
