In a historic display of basketball prowess, the No. 19 Tennessee Lady Volunteers dominated North Carolina Central with a 139-59 victory on December 14, 2024, in Knoxville, Tennessee. This remarkable performance set multiple records across NCAA, Southeastern Conference (SEC), and program history. The Lady Vols shattered the NCAA single-game record for three-pointers, sinking an unprecedented 30 shots from beyond the arc. This achievement surpassed previous records across all divisions of American basketball, including the NBA and WNBA.

Senior guard Samara Spencer led the offensive onslaught, scoring a career-high 33 points and dishing out 10 assists. She set a Tennessee program record by making nine three-pointers on 13 attempts. The team’s overall performance was equally impressive, with six players scoring in double figures. The Lady Vols’ relentless defense forced North Carolina Central into 44 turnovers, the third-highest by a Tennessee opponent.

 

This victory not only highlighted Tennessee’s offensive capabilities but also underscored their defensive strength, solidifying their status as a formidable force in women’s college basketball.
