Gigi Becali, the owner of FCSB (Steaua Bucharest), is poised to receive a substantial financial boost following the team’s recent performances in the UEFA Europa League. FCSB’s 2-0 victory over PAOK not only secured their progression to the Round of 16 but also brought significant financial rewards. The club earned €1.75 million for advancing, an additional €300,000 for the win, and approximately €1 million from ticket sales for the match. In total, this single match contributed around €3 million to FCSB’s coffers.

Becali expressed his astonishment at the financial gains, stating, “It has reached a madness with money, what football means nowadays. I took €1.75 million, plus another €300,000, plus €1 million from tickets. €3 million after this match.”

In addition to match-related revenues, FCSB is set to benefit from a new sponsorship deal. Becali revealed that a potential sponsor is willing to invest €1.5 million to have their logo featured prominently on the front of the team’s jerseys.

These financial inflows come amidst Becali’s ambitious plans for the club’s infrastructure. He envisions constructing a new €200 million stadium in Bucharest’s Pipera district, with a seating capacity of 100,000. Becali aims to secure European funding for this project, highlighting the potential profitability of modern stadiums.

Collectively, these developments underscore a period of significant financial growth for FCSB, positioning the club for future successes both on and off the field.
