Breaking News: NASCAR has taken more severe sanctions against Chase Briscoe.

NASCAR has imposed significant penalties on Chase Briscoe and Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) following the Daytona 500. The No. 19 Toyota was found to have a modified spoiler, violating NASCAR’s strict guidelines on single-source parts. As a result, Briscoe was stripped of 100 driver points and 10 playoff points, dropping him from 10th to 39th in the standings. JGR faced a $100,000 fine, lost 100 owner points, and received 10 playoff points deductions. Crew chief James Small was also suspended for four races. citeturn0news12

However, after appealing the penalties, the National Motorsports Appeals Panel ruled in favor of Briscoe and JGR. The panel concluded that the elongation of holes in the spoiler base resulted from normal wear and tear during assembly, not intentional modification. Consequently, all penalties were rescinded, restoring Briscoe’s 100 points and playoff eligibility. This decision places him 15th in the Cup Series standings with 72 points. citeturn0search0

This series of events underscores NASCAR’s commitment to maintaining strict compliance with its technical regulations, as well as the importance of thorough inspections and the appeals process in ensuring fair competition.
