In a landmark move, the University of Tennessee has extended women’s basketball head coach Kim Caldwell’s contract by ten years, underscoring their confidence in her leadership. Caldwell, who took the helm in April 2024 with a five-year contract valued at $3.75 million, will now see her tenure extended through March 31, 2034.

Since joining the Lady Volunteers, Caldwell has revitalized the program, leading them to a 7-0 start in the 2024 season. Her dynamic coaching style has been instrumental in integrating key players like Talaysia Cooper, a transfer from South Carolina, who has thrived under Caldwell’s system.
Beyond her coaching duties, Caldwell has been appointed to the university’s Board of Trustees, reflecting her integral role within the institution.
Caldwell’s journey to Tennessee includes a successful stint at Marshall University, where she was named Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year and received the Maggie Dixon Award as the top Division I rookie head coach in 2024. Her leadership at Glenville State University also led to a Division II National Championship in 2022.
The contract extension and board appointment signify a new era for Tennessee women’s basketball, with Caldwell at the forefront of the program’s resurgence.
