SAD NEWS: Boston Bruins Officially Announced The Departure Of Another Two Top Experienced Star Players Due To…
The Boston Bruins have recently experienced significant roster changes with the departure of key players. On March 4, 2025, the team traded forwards Trent Frederic and Max Jones to the Edmonton Oilers. In return, the Bruins acquired defenseman Max Wanner, a 2025 second-round pick (originally belonging to the St. Louis Blues), and a 2026 fourth-round pick. Notably, Boston is retaining 50% of Frederic’s salary for the remainder of the season, resulting in a cap hit of $575,000 for Edmonton.

This trade was part of a three-team transaction involving the New Jersey Devils. Initially, the Bruins sent Frederic to the Devils for the rights to unsigned forward Petr Hauser. Subsequently, New Jersey traded Frederic to the Oilers in exchange for unsigned draft pick Shane Lachance. The Bruins then sent Hauser and Jones to Edmonton, finalizing the deal.
These departures come on the heels of longtime captain Patrice Bergeron’s retirement announcement on July 25, 2023. After a distinguished 19-season career with the Bruins, Bergeron decided to step away from professional hockey. His tenure with Boston solidified his legacy as one of the franchise’s all-time greats.
The Bruins are now tasked with adjusting to these significant roster changes as they continue their season.
