In a landmark decision, the University of Tennessee has solidified its commitment to women’s basketball by extending Head Coach Kim Caldwell’s contract through March 2035. This ten-year extension reflects the university’s confidence in Caldwell’s leadership and vision for the Lady Volunteers.

Since her appointment in April 2024, Caldwell has revitalized the program, leading the team to significant improvements and a return to national prominence. Her dynamic coaching style, characterized by a fast-paced offense and pressure defense, has resonated with both players and fans, culminating in record-breaking performances, such as the team’s astounding 30 made three-pointers in a single game against NC Central.
Beyond her professional achievements, Caldwell has demonstrated remarkable personal resilience. Notably, she returned to coaching just one week after giving birth, exemplifying her dedication and commitment to the team.
Under this new contract, Caldwell’s base salary will be $750,000 annually, with performance-based incentives that could significantly increase her earnings. For instance, securing an NCAA National Championship would not only reward her with a $400,000 bonus but also adjust her salary to match or exceed that of the highest-paid women’s basketball coaches in Division I.
This extension underscores the university’s dedication to fostering a culture of excellence and stability within its women’s basketball program, with Caldwell at the helm steering the Lady Vols toward sustained success.
