Ohio State wrestler Sammy Sasso has announced the end of his college wrestling career, calling it a “sad” conclusion after being shot during a carjacking in August 2023. Sasso, a two-time NCAA runner-up and Big Ten champion, suffered severe injuries, including paralysis below the knees, when he was ambushed in Columbus.

Despite months of recovery and rehabilitation, Sasso revealed that his body simply wouldn’t allow him to compete at the highest level anymore. In a heartfelt message, he thanked his coaches, teammates, and Ohio State for their support throughout his journey.
