The Tennessee Volunteers have maintained their position within the top five of the Associated Press Top 25 poll, following a series of impressive performances in both men’s and women’s basketball.

In men’s basketball, the Volunteers, currently ranked No. 1, showcased resilience in a recent matchup against Middle Tennessee. Despite trailing at halftime, Tennessee rallied to secure an 82-64 victory, with standout performances from Chaz Lanier, who scored 23 points, and Zakai Zeigler, who contributed 17 points along with a career-high 15 assists. This win advanced their season record to 12-0, marking the second-best start in the program’s history.
On the women’s side, the Lady Volunteers have also made significant strides. After an undefeated start to the season, they have been bolstered by the addition of Talaysia Cooper, a transfer from South Carolina. Cooper has been instrumental in the team’s success, averaging 20.1 points per game. Her impact was particularly evident in a notable victory over No. 17 Iowa, where she led the team with 23 points.
These achievements reflect the strength and depth of Tennessee’s basketball programs, underscoring their continued prominence on the national stage.
