Steve Sarkisian’s Texas Receives $332M News Despite Nearly Doubling Head Coach’s Salary……
The University of Texas has significantly increased head football coach Steve Sarkisian’s compensation following a successful season. The Board of Regents approved a contract extension that raises Sarkisian’s guaranteed salary to $10.3 million in 2024, nearly doubling his previous earnings of $5.6 million. This extension secures his position through 2030, with annual increments of $100,000, culminating in a $10.9 million salary in the final year. Additionally, Sarkisian is eligible for performance-based incentives totaling up to $1.85 million annually, including $1.25 million for a College Football Playoff National Championship victory.

This substantial raise follows Texas’s impressive 12-2 season, highlighted by clinching the Big 12 Championship and making their inaugural College Football Playoff appearance. The team’s success has bolstered confidence in Sarkisian’s leadership as they transition into the Southeastern Conference. Athletic Director Chris Del Conte expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We couldn’t be more excited about where we are and where we’re headed, and we’re thrilled that Coach Sark will be our coach for a long time.”
The university’s commitment to Sarkisian underscores its dedication to maintaining a competitive football program and achieving sustained excellence in the coming years.
