“I Own Toronto” – Jake DeBrusk’s Bold Claim Shows His Confidence Against the Maple Leafs
Former Boston Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk didn’t shy away from expressing his dominance over the Toronto Maple Leafs. According to ex-teammate Pat Maroon, DeBrusk was eager for a playoff showdown with Toronto, confidently declaring, “I own Toronto.”
Maroon, who briefly played for the Bruins last season, shared on the Spittin’ Chicklets podcast that the entire locker room wanted to face the Maple Leafs in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. DeBrusk, in particular, was fired up, and his past performances backed up his confidence.
In 21 career postseason games against Toronto, DeBrusk has racked up nine goals and 14 points. During last season’s seven-game battle, he played a crucial role, scoring three goals and adding two assists, including a two-goal effort in Game 1.
While the Bruins may not face the Maple Leafs in this year’s playoffs, DeBrusk—now with the Vancouver Canucks—will still get his chances to prove his claim. With two games against Toronto each season, the forward will look to continue his strong track record and remind the Leafs why he once called them h
is own.
