Shane Golobic clears the air on why he didn’t hook Kyle Larson’s bumper for the ChiliBowl Monday prelim win……

Shane Golobic addressed speculation surrounding his decision not to challenge Kyle Larson aggressively during the final laps of the Chili Bowl Nationals Monday prelim feature. Golobic, a respected driver in the dirt racing scene, clarified that his approach was driven by sportsmanship and long-term strategy rather than immediate gain.“I had an opportunity to make a move on Kyle, but I didn’t want to risk wrecking both of us,” Golobic explained. “We were both racing hard and clean, and I believe in earning a win the rig un un inht way.”

Golobic emphasized the importance of racing with integrity, especially at a prestigious event like the Chili Bowl, where mutual respect among competitors is highly valued. “Kyle’s one of the best in the world, and I knew I needed to race him clean if I wanted a shot later in the week,” he added.

The decision reflects Golobic’s calculated mindset, recognizing that a secure transfer to the A-Main was more critical than a single prelim win. By securing a strong finish, Golobic positioned himself well for the remainder of the event, leaving the door open for a potential victory in the main event while upholding the spirit of fair competition.
