JUST IN: NASCAR has suspended five teams from competing in the 2025 series championship………
NASCAR has suspended nine key personnel across three teams and imposed $600,000 in fines following allegations of race manipulation during the recent event at Martinsville Speedway.
Trackhouse Racing (No. 1 car): Driver Ross Chastain and the team each face a $100,000 fine and a deduction of 50 driver and owner points. Additionally, crew chief Phil Surgen, spotter Brandon McReynolds, and team executive Tony Lunders are suspended for the upcoming season finale at Phoenix Raceway.
Richard Childress Racing (No. 3 car): Similar penalties apply to driver Austin Dillon and his team, including $100,000 fines, 50-point deductions, and suspensions for crew chief Justin Alexander, spotter Brandon Benesch, and team executive Keith Rodden.
23XI Racing (No. 23 car): Driver Bubba Wallace and the team are fined $100,000 each, with 50-point deductions. Crew chief Bootie Barker, spotter Freddie Kraft, and team executive Dave Rogers are suspended for the Phoenix event.
These sanctions stem from NASCAR’s determination that the teams engaged in actions detrimental to stock car racing, specifically race manipulation during the Martinsville race.
All three teams have announced plans to appeal the penalties.
NASCAR’s Senior Vice President of Competition, Elton Sawyer, emphasized the organization’s commitment to maintaining the sport’s integrity, stating that such actions compromise the fairness of competition and will be met with significant consequences.
These developments occur amid ongoing discussions about team conduct and the enforcement of rules designed to ensure fair play within NASCAR’s premier series.
