It was one of the most frightening football moments in recent memory on the Paycor Stadium turf that night when Hamlin, a safety out of Pittsburgh, collapsed on the field after making a routine tackle before being taken off the field in an ambulance. The Monday Night Football game was postponed and later canceled.
Hamlin was administered CPR on the field and was rushed to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he stayed for nearly one week before returning to Buffalo.
Hamlin began a steady rehabilitation process and, in April, was cleared to resume full football activities with the Bills.
Hamlin participated in the Bills’ training camp, got back on the field for preseason snaps and, in late August, was announced as a part of Buffalo’s initial 53-man roster.
“What we all saw and how things have turned out positively, back in a jersey, back out there practicing, back out there playing, I don’t think anybody saw that coming,” Taylor said on Hamlin’s recovery. “That’s just an unbelievable miracle that has played out that way, and I know that everybody’s thankful for that.”
