Sad news: Raducanu’s frequent injuries impacted by ‘Emotional stress’ says Murray’s ex-coach…

Emma Raducanu’s struggles with frequent injuries have been partly attributed to emotional stress, according to a comment made by Andy Murray’s former coach, Mark Hilton. Hilton, who has extensive experience in coaching top-level players, suggests that Raducanu’s physical issues may not solely be due to the physical demands of tennis, but also linked to mental and emotional pressure. This type of stress can often manifest in the body through injuries, especially in a sport as physically demanding and mentally taxing as tennis.

Raducanu, who burst onto the scene with her remarkable 2021 US Open victory, has since faced a series of injuries that have hindered her progress on the WTA tour. These injuries have ranged from wrist and ankle problems to recurring physical setbacks. Hilton’s perspective highlights that the pressure of performing at the highest levels, particularly after such a meteoric rise, can weigh heavily on a young athlete’s mind.

Injuries related to emotional stress are not uncommon in high-performance sports, as mental strain can lead to both physical and psychological fatigue. It is suggested that Raducanu, having faced heightened expectations and intense scrutiny, may have experienced these stressors, affecting her physical resilience. Her situation serves as a reminder of the crucial connection between mind and body, especially for athletes under constant pressure to perform.
