Breaking News: NASCAR says latest 23XI, Front Row request for temporary charters fall short of ‘irreparable harm’…….

NASCAR has rejected the latest request from 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports for temporary charters while their antitrust lawsuit against the sanctioning body continues. NASCAR argued that the teams failed to prove “irreparable harm,” a key requirement for obtaining a preliminary injunction. The court previously ruled that potential harms like drivers leaving or missing races were speculative, not imminent. NASCAR emphasized that the teams’ current challenges stem from their own contractual decisions and the timing of their legal filings.

Both teams had attempted to acquire charters from Stewart-Haas Racing but were denied due to NASCAR’s refusal to approve the transfers. NASCAR also criticized the teams for seeking expedited legal proceedings, suggesting the request was a tactical move given its timing around the Thanksgiving holiday.

The court has scheduled further filings and hearings in December to address the matter as the lawsuit progresses, with no temporary charters granted for now. The legal battle revolves around NASCAR’s charter system and claims of monopolistic practices by the teams, which NASCAR denies as contract negotiation disputes rather than antitrust violations.
