Latest News: Max Verstappen handed £845k bill to stay in F1 with Lewis Hamilton charged half as much…….
Max Verstappen is facing a record-breaking FIA Super Licence renewal fee of approximately €1.05 million (£845,000) for the 2024 Formula 1 season. This staggering amount is due to his dominant 2023 season, where he accumulated an unprecedented 547 points after winning 19 races.
The FIA charges a base fee of €10,400 (£8,400), plus €2,100 (£1,700) per point scored during the season.
In contrast, Lewis Hamilton, who scored significantly fewer points in 2023, faces a renewal fee estimated at around €520,000 (£420,000), nearly half of Verstappen’s total. This difference highlights the direct link between drivers’ championship points and the fees they owe, making Verstappen’s bill the highest ever recorded in F1 history.
