The Boston Bruins have officially signed veteran goaltender **Matt Murray** from the Toronto Maple Leafs to a two-year contract. The deal is reported to be worth **$4.5 million** over its duration, with an average annual value (AAV) of **$2.25 million**. This move comes as the Bruins seek added depth and experience in their goaltending ranks following the departure of veteran goalie Linus Ullmark, who was traded earlier this offseason.

Murray, 29, has had a somewhat turbulent career in recent years, with injuries limiting his availability and performance. However, his pedigree as a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016 and 2017 makes him an intriguing addition for the Bruins. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated moments of brilliance but has struggled to maintain consistency.

In the 2023-24 season, Murray played in a backup role for the Leafs, posting a 2.87 goals-against average (GAA) and a .903 save percentage in 16 appearances. The Bruins are hoping that Murray can provide stability behind starter Jeremy Swayman and offer a reliable option should injury or performance issues arise. With his championship experience, Murray brings valuable leadership to the locker room as well.

The Bruins’ signing of Murray signals their desire to bolster their goaltending depth as they aim for another deep playoff run.
