Caitlin Clark Bid Farewell as Star Forward Chooses New Path…………

Although Caitlin Clark’s historic undergraduate basketball career and record-breaking season are over, her professional career is just getting started.

On April 17, two days after the Indiana Fever picked her with the first overall pick in the WNBA draft, Clark participated in an opening press conference at Indianapolis’ Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

“A dream come true, this is.” These are the times you’ve been dreaming of. There is no better spot in my opinion for me to launch my career. A place with a championship background that genuinely does things the right way, supports women’s basketball, and adores basketball. When asked about joining the team, the former Iowa Hawkeyes standout remarked, “I’m just very thankful that they have a belief in me.”

Following a spectacular stint at Iowa, which was highlighted by the school’s recent declaration that it will retire her number, Clark made the leap to the WNBA.

The Iowa women’s basketball team tweeted on April 10 that “there will never be another @CaitlinClark22 & there will never be another 22.” Clark’s No. 22 will be retired by the #Hawkeyes.

On April 7, the Hawkeyes lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks, 87-75, and missed the opportunity to earn the team’s first NCAA championship.
